“Iran Digital” Selected as a Top Project at WSIS 2025

 According to the PR and Information Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the national initiative “Iran Digital,” developed with the support of the Ministry and in collaboration with the private sector, earned global acclaim at WSIS 2025, securing a place among the event’s prestigious Champions projects.

Designed to narrow the digital divide and promote educational equity, the platform provides a free learning environment for acquiring cutting-edge digital skills to students and interested learners. Its modular design, gamification elements, and focused curriculum on Python programming language and fundamental AI concepts distinguish the project from others.

Beyond being an educational tool, “Iran Digital” serves as a talent discovery ecosystem. Top participants in educational challenges gain access to advanced programming courses and internship opportunities within technology-driven companies. Additionally, incentives such as laptop and mobile phone lotteries further encourage participant engagement.

The Information Technology Organization of Iran, fulfilling its mission to support e-businesses, undertook a six-month process to identify and document the year’s standout projects. This rigorous review focused on selecting initiatives with potential for adaptation in other countries to compete at WSIS 2025.

“Iran Digital” ultimately stood out due to the quality of its content, broad impact, and replicability, earning its place among the summit’s distinguished projects.

The World Summit on the Information Society, held annually in partnership with the United Nations, is one of the most reputable platforms for showcasing national innovations in information and communication technology. In previous years, Iran has also gained international recognition at the summit with projects such as the “One-Stop Smart Government Services Window.”

The selection of “Iran Digital” signifies the expanding capacity of Iran’s digital education ecosystem and marks a vital stride toward cultivating specialized human capital in technology — a critical asset underpinning the transformation to a digital economy.
